Franklin was found on the side of the road when he was just 2 weeks old and went to one of our fosters who is experienced with bottle feeding kittens. He was sickly throughout his whole kittenhood, always battling illnesses and struggling to gain weight. When he was still underweight at 3 months old, we took him to one of our trusted veterinarians for answers.
It turned out that Franklin had a hole in the wall of his diaphragm, which caused his organs to shift up into his thorax, putting pressure on his blood vessels and lungs. The added stress caused his heart to enlarge.
In addition to his heart condition, for which there is no cure, Franklin has an immunodeficiency. He heals slower than healthy cats and must be on a special diet.
With his heart condition, there’s no telling how long Franklin will live. According to our veterinarian “he could die tomorrow or he could live to be 15 years old”. Keeping him on a healthy diet and in a low-stress home gives him the best chance of leading a long and happy life.
“When I come home, he hops onto the back of the chair, asking to be picked up,” says his foster mom Elsa, “He sleeps on top of my dogs, he plays with my cats. He’s amazing. He’s what Brother Wolf is all about.”
Your commitment to sponsor Franklin for just $10 a month will help ensure he gets the food and medical care he needs to live a full and happy life.
